Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide
NAD, short for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a coenzyme that is found in every cell of your body. Most of your body’s energy and organ function is supported by mitochondria in cells, and NAD plays an important role in supporting mitochondrial function. In this way, it may repair damaged DNA and slow the mental and physical aging process.
Many patients in clinical studies report feeling mentally sharper and improved cognitive function. They have also reported lower sensations of stress and report feeling these results for days to weeks after treatment. When you infuse your body with a combination of NAD and vitamins, the vitamins in the infusions enhance the natural efficacy of NAD for maximum results.
The coenzyme NAD may:
boost neurologic function
restore mental clarity
support brain regeneration and repair
increase energy metabolism on a cellular level.
NAD treatment has also been indicated to improve symptoms of anxiety, fatigue, and depression.
Please note, though NAD is currently widely used with positive patient outcomes and experiences, NAD is not yet an FDA approved medication.
Common side effects of NAD treatment can include temporary (minutes) shortness of breath and/or muscle fatigue (like you just sprinted around the block!). As your cells are being stimulated to produce ATP (energy) and utilizing more oxygen, these side effects are expected and can be mitigated with adjusting dosage or route of administration (intravenous vs intramuscular). Less commonly, some patients have experienced nausea or diarrhea, which can also be mitigated by dosage or route.
NAD is CONTRAINDICATED in patients with cancer.
